Five strategies teachers use from the next class period on

A full day on site. The strategies are research based and built for use the next morning.

Why this training

Four reasons to start with classroom management

01

Time

Low-level discipline problems are where instruction time goes.

02

Achievement

Discipline comes first. Without control, even the best lessons stay undelivered.

03

Stress

These strategies reduce or eliminate 70 to 90% of chronic, low-level behaviors.

04

Turnover

Classroom management is the number one reason educators leave the profession, and the fix can be taught.

Research

"Teachers' actions in their classrooms have twice the impact on student achievement as school policies regarding curriculum, assessment, staff collegiality, and community involvement."

Marzano, R. J. (2003). What Works in Schools. ASCD.
The five components

The playbook

Five strategies, each taught, modeled, and practiced during the training.

Component One

Self-control strategies

Everything else in the training builds on self-control. Teachers learn to read the room, stay calm, and catch disruptions early, preventing up to 90% of low-level problems.

Component Two

Teaching rules and procedures

Routines are taught like academics. This component gives teachers a lesson-plan format for expectations and a plan for the first week of school.

Component Three

Responding to challenges

This is the part teachers ask about most: what to do in the moment. The diffuser system, a supportive stance, and five immediate steps for an out-of-control student give them a plan.

Component Four

Classroom ecology and arrangement

Fifteen desk arrangements, and when to use each one. Teachers also learn where to stand so challenges are less likely to start.

Component Five

Student-teacher relationships

Room design matters, and relationships matter more. Teachers practice making each student feel individually seen, including the most challenging ones.

Agenda

A typical training day

In person on your campus, as a full day or a half-day, whenever your calendar allows.

Teachers start at 8:30 AM with the classroom itself: a calm mindset, room design, the teaching power position, and fifteen desk arrangements. Rules and procedures close the morning at 12:00 PM.

Lunch runs from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Between 1:00 and 3:30 PM, teachers learn to carry out discipline firmly but fairly, build relationships, connect with non-compliant students, regain control in five steps, and stop giving repeated warnings.
